New website for 2012
We are delighted to have finally launched our new website for the 2012 season. This has many more features and we hope you will find it easy to use. There are more options when viewing the on-line catalogue and shop to aid easy selection of your plants.
PLEASE NOTE - There is a significant difference in the way 'out of stock' items are handled compared to our old site. If a plant is not available, you cannot buy it. You can supply your e-mail address and you will receive an automatic e-mail as soon as it is available again. However, the out of stock plant will not be forward ordered and you will need to order it after it becomes available. For further infomation please see the How to Order page - Availability paragraph.
End of year report. 9th December 2011
We have had a very exciting year and a very busy one with lots of changes being made on site and in the way we do things. We have added 'Plants for Wildlife' to our plant area which are all plants to attract wildlife to the garden, so butterflies, bees, birds and insects. Also we have added British Native Plants as these are very popular and we are stocking just those which are garden-worthy plants, so not nettles and brambles! (although we have plenty in the field if you'd like them!) 4 polytunnels have been re-covered in the last calendar year and one has had a completely new sand bed floor installed (about 10 tonnes of sand moved in by Gareth and me in wheel barrows). The whole car park area has had new gravelboards all around the pergola and about 40 new clematis planted along it which looked absolutely fabulous throughout this year. A new stock management system is now in place and all plants have a new lock-tie label with barcode and the shop has a touch screen till.
Most significantly this year we have achieved our 5th Chelsea Flower Show Gold medal in a row so we are very pleased indeed to have reached and maintained this very high standard of exhibition performance.
Next year: Our application for Chelsea Flower Show 2012 has been accepted and the plants are about to be prepared ready for the display. We have renovated a polytunnel especially for the exhibition plants to be grown in which will allow more air movement and greater flexibility to adjust the temperature. All this means that it 'should' be easier to produce the high quality display plants and perhaps even raise the quality a little more! Along with this new website we will be improving the general appearance of the nursery by painting all the sheds/shop and building new display benches in the Native Plant and Wildlife Plant area.
We now have over 600 twitter followers and almost 100 'Likes' on our facebook page (could you be our 100th facebook 'Like'?) and with my mobile phone I can update both Facebook and Twitter at once. So please follow either on twitter or facebook for the most up-to-date happenings and I will try to pop in to the forum and this news page as offen as possible to let you know of the more significant infomation on us and our little nursery.
New carriage contract with Interlink Express. 4th November 2011
We are pleased to have started using Interlink Express for all our domestic and European delivery services. This change has allowed us to offer a next-day delivery service for our customers with the security of a signature being required for proof of delivery. Although a safe place can be given for parcels to be left, this is at the customer's risk.
Another big bonus with this new arrangement is called 'Predict'. Customers who provide an email address will be sent an email by Interlink on the morning of the delivery day, with a '1-hour window' in which the parcel should be delivered. This part of the service has already proved to be very popular and helpful to customers who need to plan their busy day. It has also proved helpful to customers who need to change the delivery date because they can simply reply to the e-mail, which includes all parcel data needed by Interlink, with their prefered alternative date.
The best thing about all this is that it is a free part of the service provided by Interlink for You, the customer to ensure satisfaction every time.
